Beauty Everywhere

When you think of Arkansas , what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Is it the name Little Rock? Or maybe you remember that it is home to the likes of Maya Angelou and President Clinton. Most, however, are unaware that it is bountiful natural resources that have earned it the nickname, “The Natural State.” This natural wealth makes it the perfect place for a relaxing get-away.

There are several different reasons for embarking on a road trip. If you like to simply enjoy the scenery and treat your car as your sanctuary (many of us do), you will love Arkansas’s roads. For example, Highway 82 gives you a complete tour through Southern Arkansas. After enjoying the cotton and rice fields, you’ll make your way to the Arkansas Gulf Coastal Plain. Along the way, you can stop at sights like the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources and the South Arkansas Arboretum.

Others prefer to embark on their road trip with adventure in mind. The Ozark Mountains, in the northern region of the state, are a perfect destination if you love the outdoors. This region boasts gorgeous forests with impressing waterfalls and multiple hiking trails. Mount Magazine State Park provides rappelling and hang gliding opportunities. If your mission is to connect with nature, be sure to side-step towards one of these pit stops.

If you’re looking for some relaxation at the end of your trip, you should consider a drive through the Ouachitas region. After a leisurely ride through beautiful scenic roads, you could take a break at the Lake Ouachita camp grounds. If you prefer a spa atmosphere to the rugged outdoors, you could take a dip in one of Arkansas’s world famous Hot Springs. Once you’ve refreshed and recharged, you can meander down to Crater of Diamonds State Park. This is the only diamond producing mine in the world that is open to the public. So you could very well end up with a very unique souvenir.

No matter what your reason is for setting off on the open road, Arkansas is a great destination. It offers a beautiful ride and amazing destinations that will undoubtedly recharge your mind, body and soul.
